How it happened

Baloda's first-innings 6 for 32 bowled Australia out for 174. India then built a lead of 141 with 315 all out in 78.4 overs. Abhipray Biswas hit 73 off 62 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes, captain Yashbardhan Chauhan made 52 off 83, and Manal Chauhan (34), Aryan Yadav (30) and Priyanshu Singh (30 not out) all chipped in. Baloda even added 28 off 37 with the bat. Legspinner Spencer Green was Australia's best bowler with 7 for 110 from 28 overs.

Australia's second innings lasted 43.5 overs. Blake Cattle (63) and Eli Brain (39) offered the only real resistance before Baloda took 8 for 41 in 19.5 overs, with Priyanshu Singh adding 2 for 25, to bowl them out for 151. That left India needing just 11. Lakshya Raichandani (9 not out off 4 balls) and Sagar Virk (2 not out) knocked them off in 0.5 overs.

What it means

Fourteen wickets in a Test is rare at any level, and this was Baloda's Youth Test debut. IANS reported that the Haryana left-arm spinner came into the multi-day squad as a replacement after another player withdrew over an age-related issue. He turned that late call into a match-winning performance and the series sealed.

  • Baloda took 6 for 32 and 8 for 41, for 14 wickets at 5.2 apiece.
  • Biswas (73) and Yashbardhan Chauhan (52) led India's 315.
  • India won the 1st Youth Test in Rajkot by an innings, so the series ends 2-0.
